For many of us in the field of diversity/social justice the issue of classism remains confusing. This day-long training will allow diversity professionals to explore the issue of class on a personal level, consider the intersections of class and other aspects of identity, and consider the pedagogical/training concerns that arise in training about classism.

We will look at the macro-economic context in which our training takes place, the concept of class culture and class bias, and consider how incorporating class as an issue into our work has the potential to move our work on race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, etc. along. The training will include experiential activities and opportunities for reflection and consideration of how to apply the learning.

Workshop Facilitator: Felice Yeskel, Ed.D.

Felice Yeskel, Executive Director of Class Action and a Co-Founder of United for a Fair Economy comes from a working class Jewish family from New York City's lower-east side. Felice has led hundreds of workshops across the U.S. on healing divisions across race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. She is an educator and activist and the co-author of Economic Apartheid in America, a 2nd edition was published by The New Press in the fall of 2005.
