From August 2016 to April 2017 Class Action fiscally sponsored Putting Equity to work in the Neighborhood as an incubator project in Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, Dorchester and Roxbury.
This project is no longer associated with Class Action, but if you are interested in learning more about the work, please contact Sky Rose.
The goals were to engage people in community spaces to benefit low-income and working class people in the following ways:
- Peace building and nonviolence skills development
- Democratic civic engagement to teach organizing and collective decision making
- Building community commons and cooperative economic development
- Networking – films, conferences, trainings, talks, debates, games, parties and fundraising activities
The initial projects ideas included building a mutual-aid transportation cooperative and a building a collective for low-income women called Women Cooperating.
